Senigallia

Since 1853 Senigallia has been one of the most popular seaside resort on the Adriatic coast with its thirteen kilometres of golden sands : the famous Velvet Beach. Between hotels and campings-sites there are over 100 accomodation facilities. residences, farm resorts, bathing establishments, bars, restaurants, pizzerias and discos.

Sports- lovers have a wide choise at their disposal: tennis,horse-riding. bowling, table-tennis, windsurfing, sailing swimming, water skiing. Thanks to the quality of the service it provides, and the clean and safe bathing, Senigallia has been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag of the Foundation for Environmental Education in Europe. But he sea is not the only reason for choosing Senigallia. The armony and t strength of the Renaissance are to be found in the heart of the city, represented by the Roveresca Fortress, the Palace and Fountain of the Duke and the Baviera Palace. The Ercolani Porticos, under which the famous "Fiera Franca" of Senigallia is held, date back to the 18th century, while the adjacent " Foro Annonario", where the daily fish and herb market is still held, was built in the early 19th century.

Senigallia is easily reached. The A14 motorway and Bologna/Ancona railway represent quick links with all major Italian and European centres. Just 15 minutes away by car are the airport " R.Sanzio" in Falconara and the port of Ancona.

Just a few kilometres from Senigallia are acclamed Frasassi caves, and less then one hour's drive away, Loreto, Recanati, Urbino, San Marino, Gradara, Iesi, Ancona, San Leo, Fabriano, Iesi, Corinaldo, Arcevia, Gubbio.

4th CATERRADUNO in Senigallia

After a week (9-15 June 2008) of direct broadcasting from Rome and the Piazza Bagni Arcobaleno, of sunrise to sunset concerts, theatrical performances and a thousand others are proposed by the "diabolical" editorial, the announcement expected from thousands people gathered in the square: "The CateRaduno 2009 will be held in Senigallia". The beach will be velvet for the fourth consecutive year based on the traditional summer event, in the first half of June, fans of the cult of the transmission of Radio 2 RAI, Caterpillar. 

The CaterRaduno, mix of concerts, performances and broadcasts live from Rome piazza and velvet beach, call a nation of fans from all over Italy who wants to enjoy the fun dispensed freely from the vein of the brilliant historical conductors Massimo Cirri and Filippo Solibello .

The roots in the city of CaterRaduno stems from thespirit and light transmission of a family as Caterpillar that, almost unique case in the Italian scene, manages to combine information, battles and civil law and biting humor.

In the editions of 2007 and 2008 the CaterRaduno supported through proceeds from an auction of law of finds of tangentopoli, the Association of Free Don Ciotti who fights daily against the mafia.

The 2008 edition was celebrated with the slogan "Sì lo voglio" , which drew the very idea of marriages celebrated during the special event, when 100 couples were married with the conductor and Cirri Solibello nell'inedita as officers marital status, delegates to the occasion by the Mayor of Senigallia Luana Angeloni ..

Summer Jamboree      

Il prossimo Summer Jamboree, l'edizione del decennale, si terrà (naturalmente sempre a Senigallia) dal 14 al 23 AGOSTO 2009.

Il Summer Jamboree è un festival internazionale di musica e cultura dell'America degli anni '40 e '50, ideato e organizzato dall'associazione culturale Summer Jamboree e promossa con il sostegno del Comune di Senigallia.

Il festival, ad ingresso gratuito, si svolge ogni anno dal 2000, di solito nella seconda metà di agosto, e dura una settimana. Tutta la città partecipa; bar, locali ed i simboli della città (piazza del Duca, la Rotonda, ...) si addobbano a tema.

La prima edizione avvenne nel 2000 e fu concentrata in un solo giorno con l'esibizione di quattro gruppi musicali. L'anno successivo vide maggiore partecipazione, ma è nel 2002 che il festival inizia a ricevere l'attenzione dei mass media, accrescendo la sua popolarità in Italia.

L'edizione del 2003 è quella che consacra il "Summer Jamboree" tra i primi tre in Italia nel suo genere, ed il primo gratuito. Nel 2005, il festival attrae complessivamente circa 100 000 persone durante i sette giorni dell'evento e nei tre giorni di pre-festival; solo alla serata finale hanno partecipato 40 mila persone.

La Storica Fiera di S. Agostino, che si tiene ogni anno il 28-29-30 agosto, contribuì nel passato a far conoscere la città in gran parte del mondo, rivive nel Centro Storico nella parte conclusiva del mese di agosto, regalando ai visitatori tutta una serie di suoni e di suggestioni particolari. Un susseguirsi di bancarelle e di opportunità, un universo di voci e di colori attraverso cui la città riscopre la sua anima più vera. Sono più di 500 gli espositori che ogni anno prendono parte alla fiera, richiamando tutti i cittadini senigalliesi e del comprensorio.

La storia della Fiera di Sant'Agostino:
La Fiera di Senigallia raggiunse il massimo sviluppo nel XVIII secolo, in coincidenza con la decadenza economica dei vicini centri commerciali di Ancona e di Recanati. I motivi del successo andavano ricercati nel periodo di svolgimento, che cadeva in piena estate, nel quale le comunicazioni via mare erano le migliori e nella brevità della durata, circa 15 giorni, che consentiva ai mercanti di poter concludere i propri affari in un breve lasso di tempo. A tutela degli interessi dei mercanti a Senigallia nel '700 erano presenti numerosi Consolati esteri. Erano rappresentate diplomaticamente Austria, Danimarca, Prussia, Svezia, Belgio, Francia, Inghilterra, Turchia ed altri Stati. Ai forestieri, raggruppati per lo più secondo la nazionalità cui spesso corrispondeva una specializzazione mercantile, venivano assegnate aree e botteghe in affitto. Ancora oggi nel rione del Porto possiamo trovare, ad esempio, vie Cattaro, Siria, Samo, Corfù, Smirne, Rodi.
